Hi! I’m Katie - mom to two girls, Amity (age 15) and Verity (age 13) and step-mom to two boys, Knox (age 12) and Ford (age 10). When I’m not chasing my own babies...I love photographing yours!
I’ve been photographing families for 17 years, and the part I love most is creating space for real connection. I’m often told I’m patient and that my work feels pure, simple, and natural—just like the moments I’m capturing. With baby-led posing and natural editing, I focus on your family’s personality and the relationships that make you you. The result is artwork that feels timeless and is meant to be cherished for years to come.
Timing
Newborn sessions take place in my Salem studio, M-F, almost always between 7-14 days of life. At this time, mom is starting to feel better and baby is still young enough to be sleepy and “curled up.” I pencil in the due dates of my clients who are expecting and, once the baby is born, we finalize our plans and set a time. My newborn sessions are often a bit longer than a typical portrait session, lasting about 2 hours. We follow the baby’s lead with lots of time for soothing, nursing, etc., keeping things relaxed.
Sleepy Baby
A successful newborn session requires a content and sleepy baby. There are numerous ways we accomplish this! The studio will be very warm, and we will work to keep the baby’s tummy full. I will also have un-opened soothie pacifiers for your baby. It’s very important to allow me to use a pacifier for the session, as it is extremely helpful in posing your baby—even if your baby doesn’t normally or won’t be using a pacifier outside of the session.
Wardrobe
Not sure what to wear for your maternity session? I have lots of robes and dresses at the studio for your use. Schedule a time to come by the studio before your session to pick out what you'd like to wear or plan to arrive a little early to your maternity session. We'll go through the clothes and find something that looks beautiful on you!
Fresh48
Fresh48 sessions aim to capture the emotions you feel during this impactful moment in your life. The session is are documentary in nature. No props or poses, just you and your brand new baby.
When I arrive, I open up all the blinds and tidy up a few items that may be out of place. Throughout the session I will be guiding you with simple prompts and will do my best to capture all images under an hour, ensuring that the session is as easy and stress free as possible.
My pricing structure is broken into two parts: the session fee and your digital file and product order. Together, these make up your total investment in photography.
Session Fee
This is paid at booking to reserve your date. It covers the photography session itself, including my time photographing you, studio use, access to the client wardrobe, and my time hand-proofing and preparing your images.
Digital Files Purchased Separately
After your session, you’ll have a one-day online ordering appointment where you’ll view your full gallery. At that time, you’ll choose the digital collection and any products you’d like to purchase.
The session fee is not a deposit toward images. It is the fee to book and hold your session date and to complete the photography. Digital files are selected and purchased separately after you’ve seen your photos.

Those first weeks with your baby are a whirlwind. Your newborn session is your chance to slow down, sit back, and soak it all in.
Sessions typically last 2–3 hours. Don’t worry, we won’t be photographing that entire time! There’s plenty of room for chatting, settling in, and taking breaks for feeding, changing, and snuggling your baby.
Newborn sessions are best photographed within the first two weeks of life, but my relaxed, natural style allows me to accommodate babies up to 8 weeks old.
Newborn collections are priced differently due to the time, flexibility, and care required for newborn sessions.

Each collection includes a Print Store discount, you will be able to use that once I've delivered your final edited digital files. In your gallery there will be a Store tab where you will find many beautiful options for printing your artwork.
Booking
Your session date will be canceled or give it to another client if the session fee is not received within 3 days after your portrait agreement is e-mailed to you. In the event that you need to reschedule the date, current pricing and my availability to provide services on such date will be reviewed. In the event of a cancellation, your session fee will be honored for one year.
